Crochet Topped Kitchen Towels To Make

May 7, 2017

I went shopping the other day and got another group of towels and yarn.
I'm going to be making some crochet topped hanging kitchen towels.

I saw these fish and just had to grab them.
This will be really cute when it is finished.

This is one of the things that I really enjoy making.
They are so pretty when they are done.

I fold the top over and hem them by hand.
I've used the machine for this,
but I prefer doing it by hand because I like the finished look of it better.

This set will brighten up any corner.
I'm lovin' it.

Here's to many happy crafting hours!
I hope that you all are working on something fun.

For My Mama Dimple Potterfield

The capelet and matching hat is for
My Mama Dimple Potterfield.

The flower on the hat actually sits off the the side.
It was sitting on the hanger this way and I didn't realize it.

I really like these colors together.

Love you Dimple!!

Until next time!

Kitty Hat

Kitty Hats
Made by Ava Potterfield

The view as I worked ...

After the top has been sewn shut ...

Forming the ears ...

Ta Da!
Here it is!

I had trouble finding a pattern the I liked the look of when it was finished.
Remember ... I judge all of my finished work with this ...
If I'm wearing it is this how I want it to fit or look?

So ...
I sat down and wrote up my own pattern to use ...
The first one was good but still needed a little bit of changes ...
The second one ... pictured above ...
was just right.
So that is the pattern that I will go with.

Step by Step Look at Making a Woman's Capelet

I thought it would be fun to post pictures of the project as I went along.
This is the yarn that I started with.

Used a J sized crochet hook.

Ready to start!

It is based on this half circle and builds from there.

Now it is beginning to take shape.

Time for a color change.

Time for another color change.

Folded it ...

Last color change.

Instead of doing fringe ...
this calls for a stitch called Solomon's Knot.
It wasn't hard to learn and I think it really added to the capelet.

Four rows of Solomon's Knot finishes it out.

The Capelet ...

The women's capelet shoulder cover with matching messy bun hat.
I decided that the hat needed a flower!

Capelet and Matching Messy Bun / Pony Tail Hat

Here is something new!

A women's capelet and matching messy bun hat!

The flower on the messy bun hat is the perfect touch to bring the together as a set.

Rather than fringe I learned a new stitch called Solomon's Knot.

There are no buttons on the capelet but you may use the brooch of your choice to secure your capelet.

If you are interested in a set please be aware it is a capelet ... made to cover your shoulders.
It is not a full length cape or poncho.

I am just thrilled with this set and can't wait to wear mine!

A Hat Made For Me!!

Finally!

After making this wonderful hat for so many other people ...
I grabbed a skein of that soft Mimosa yarn
and made a hat for myself!

It's a slouch hat!
It is very comfortable!

There's the rosette at the back of the hat.
I remember making my very first one.
It seemed so hard.
Now it seems easy.

Happy me!
Can't wait to wear it somewhere!

Now to finish up what I was working on!

Newest batch of hats!

Here is my newest batch of hats ...
all headed to Diamond, Missouri!!

The first one is a slouch hat
made from soft yarn ...
the color called Mimosa ...

The following two hats are pony tail hats / messy bun hats
one in red and one in lavender ...

This is what the top looks like.
I had previously made mine with a larger hole
but I decided I like the smaller hole better.

Here is the lavender one ...

I've just gotten over having the stomach bug and then the sinus bug
that has been going around.
I am just now getting back into crocheting and quilting again after resting during that period.
Hooray for feeling better!
Whoo hoo!!!
